Buy for Airport Commerce Analytics Firm Gray Matter

November 25 2024

Gray Matter Software Services, a Bengaluru-based provider of analytics products and services with a focus on airport ancillary revenues, has acquired Servy, a Houston, TX-based enterprise self-service platform for hospitality.

Vikas Gupta and Jeff LivneyGrayMatter, which has offices in the USA, the UK and Southeast Asia, helps clients in airport retail to improve customer experience and develop new revenue streams, with products including Skateboard, a digital airport platform offering seamless travel with e-commerce and entertainment features; retail analytics package StoreSense; and a parking lot demand forecasting and price optimization platform called SmartLot. It also works on business intelligence, data warehouse and big data / analytics projects. Servy was launched in 2014 as an airport digital commerce app called Grab, and has expanded beyond airports to offer self-service solutions to hospitality companies of all sizes and venues, including rail stations and sports arenas. Its solutions include contactless ordering and payment via mobile devices, self-service kiosks and self-checkout systems. The firm says the Grab app is now the largest omnichannel airport e-commerce platform, with a presence in 80 airports across most of the globe.

Following the buy, GrayMatter's analytics and AI expertise will 'significantly strengthen' Servy's offering, and in geographical terms the former's reach in South America and APAC will complement the latter's roots in the US and Europe. ' Our products and expertise in managing non-aeronautical revenue streams will significantly enhance value for Servy's customers' says Vikas Gupta (pictured left), founder and CEO of GrayMatter. 'We are committed to substantially improving the passenger experience by enabling them to manage their entire journey on their mobile devices and drive non-aeronautical revenue for developers, airport operators, and concessionaires'.

Jeff Livney (pictured right), founder and Chief Experience Officer at Servy, comments: 'GrayMatter's deep domain expertise in the airport commercial space allows us to deliver consistently high standards of service, adapt to the ever-evolving needs of our customers, and enhance travel hospitality at a global scale'.
