Angus Reid 'Re-Ignites' Public Affairs Division

January 20 2025

In Canada, Angus Reid Group has launched a new Public Affairs division and appointed Jennifer Birch to lead it as EVP and Managing Director, Public Affairs North America. Senior Consultant Chris Martyn also joins her leadership team.

Jennifer BirchOttawa-based Birch (pictured) brings around twenty years' experience in public affairs and market research, most recently from seven years at Ipsos as VP Digital Government and then SVP Client Partners. Earlier she ran her own company Indago Insights, was Director of Research at the Canadian Automobile Association, and was an AVP at Ipsos Reid between 2006 and 2011.

Martyn served until 2022 as Chief Research Officer for Ipsos Public Affairs, in a stay of more than two decades at the company, overseeing domestic and international research programs spanning CX, brand/reputation, communications, issues management and crisis management. Since leaving Ipsos he has run his own consultancy.

The new division promises solutions which 'integrate citizen and consumer perspectives, bridging the gap between public affairs and market research'. This includes researching trends such as the increasing influence of citizen views on climate change and equity on consumer behavior, and the integration of market research and public affairs to provide 'a holistic view of socio-political-economic dynamics to empower impactful decisions'.

CEO Angus Reid comments: 'We are thrilled to re-ignite our Public Affairs division under Jennifer's leadership. Her innovative approach aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing insight with integrity - unbiased, dependable data of the highest caliber - ensuring our clients can make fully informed, confident decisions'.
